Frequently asked questions.

How do I know if my child needs therapy?

You might consider therapy if your child is struggling with emotions, behavior, or social relationships, or if you’ve noticed changes in mood, sleep, or school performance. A therapist can help you determine if extra support is needed.

How can therapy help my child with emotional outbursts?

Therapy provides a safe space for your child to understand their feelings and learn healthy ways to express them. Over time, this can reduce emotional outbursts and strengthen coping skills.

How can therapy support my child’s success at school?

Therapy can help your child build focus, confidence, and emotional regulation skills—leading to better learning, improved relationships with teachers and peers, and a more positive school experience.

How can therapy benefit me as a parent or caregiver?

Therapy can help you better understand your child’s needs, strengthen your connection, and build confidence in handling challenges. It also offers a supportive space to reflect, recharge, and learn new strategies for your family’s well-being.

What should I expect during the first session?

During the first session, I will get to know you and/or your child, explore your concerns, and discuss your goals for therapy. It’s an opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of my approach to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

How long will therapy take to see improvement?

I believe strongly in the importance of relationship building as an initial building block for growth and development in therapy. It is my goal to create a meaningful and positive therapeutic relationship with you and/or your child. The length of time it takes to build a positive rapport can vary. Some individuals, children, and families may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may need longer-term support. We will regularly assess progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Do provide in-person sessions, Telehealth, or both?

I offer both in-person and remote sessions. I offer Telehealth services for adults who prefer virtual sessions. I work with young children in person in order to best meet their unique needs. Depending on circumstances, I occasionally work with children via Telehealth.
